This post is dedicated to Technoblade, a young and beloved Minecraft YouTuber who lost his life to sarcoma. Today marks the one-year anniversary of “so long nerds”, the video in which his parents share the news of his passing.
On this day one year ago,
the world was dealt a cruel blow.
A great man was lost,
who stood so defiantly against the odds,
a champion of a worthy cause;
the mighty Alexander.
He certainly lived up to
the namesake of the Great.
He was an indomitable conqueror,
a master of the art of war.
The mere mention of his name
would strike fear into his opponents.
Perhaps you knew him as Dave.
Most knew him as Technoblade.
He was a man of many talents;
It’s hard not to admire
the man’s sheer tenacity
when it came to building strategies.
He went from optimizing farming
to earning the respect of many a viewer.
Ironic, that his final match would
be against his own body;
brought down not by another,
but by his cells in anarchy.
Honor his legacy,
and raise your blades up high,
for the Blade will never die.
Extra Poem – The Blade Will Never Die
This poem was originally posted on June 30, 2022, the same day that fateful video was uploaded. That post was deleted along with the website of origin, however, and I wanted to wait for the right time to reupload it. Now is that time.
Raise your blade, my friend.
Raise your blades high today,
for we have lost a great man.
A man who stood against the odds,
a warrior of a noble cause,
a witty swordsman- nay, a god.
Though cancer won this fight,
his blade will never truly die.
So live the life which
Technoblade was so cruelly denied.
Defy the passage of time,
and raise your swords up high!
Honor his legacy with your battlecry,
and seize your destiny.
