A tranquil carver peruses through his beloved tools,
Eager to start on his next great project.
He’s found a fine oak canvas,
freshly felled by late night storm….
and as he paces his workshop,
an image forms in his mind…
A rough draft defined,
he goes to work.
With an expert’s touch
he follows the grain,
and his hands remember
passion once again.
Each cut
breathes life
anew through
battered frame;
in death allowed
to live again.
Satisfied, he breathes, and sets aside the sculpture.
He cleans his table, ready for another.
