(Poetry) ocean waves; open page

reach for the page
a stage beyond the depths
of human psyche

down to the depths
of impossibility
until the tank runs empty

drowning endlessly
yet still diving
searching
for the one thing
that’ll make everything
worth the war waged
against the currents
which batter relentlessly
upon the open shore

a page unwritten
buried in the depths
of a flooded brain

a thought unspoken
amidst time’s passage
wrestles free from the banks once more

words long forgotten
sentiments coated in sediment
small ideas cast aside
in search of the grand prize
the big fish
a wish since lost
the tank sits near empty
yet still I hope
the world will look kindly
upon me

if only I believe
the oceans will provide
in my time of need

30/30 Challenge Day 7 PromptNone

None of the prompts I got really spoke to me today, so I went a different direction with the challenge today. I was doing a bit of digging in my old drafts a few weeks ago, and found an incomplete piece from June 2023… and realized from yesterday’s prompt that I could do something cool with it. The first 3 verses are the original words I wrote nearly 2 years ago, and the rest expands upon the work I didn’t know how to finish back then.
