(Poetry) Half Measures

A little thought here,
A bit of wordplay there…

Idea fragments
float freely on a stream
of lucid daydreams /
but who has the time
to find them all?

It’s not always easy to tell
what merits rekindling /
and what’s not worth planting.

This brain wasn’t built
for rapid-fire rhyme schemes
bound with twine and dreams /
so I set my net on a pile
of broken comparisons
and promise to fix them later.
Maybe.

They won’t all be winners,
but maybe something can still be made
from these shards of / embers.

30/30 Challenge Day 16 Prompthalfway

Gonna be honest, I struggled a bit with this one. It started as one idea, and then it shifted into another idea partway through, and the metaphor I was going for fell apart entirely. I was initially going to scrap this piece, but then I decided to lean into the brokenness instead, and this is the result.
