(Poetry) Cento of the Earth

Cento – A poem composed entirely of sentences/phrases taken from other works, usually by a different author. Here, however, I’ve taken pieces of every poem I’ve written over the course of the 30/30 Challenge, and blended them all together in a (hopefully) coherent manner. The numbers represent the days where each line was sourced from.

(22) Deep beneath the crust and clay,
(24) One of many rocks
(17) Still remembers the days
(23) Of those who came before…

(4) It dreams of lifetimes past,
(12) how the stars shine so beautifully,
(7) sentiments coated in sediment
(6) which whisper of mysteries from eons long gone.

(16) Something can still be made
(18) of such riches,
(21) enough to fill a lake!

(13) Everything you’re feeling,
(9) in darkest day and brightest night,
(28) your heart beams tonight.

(29) So stay with me,
(19) and rage, rage against the inevitable
(10) weight of your mistakes!

(26) How quick the heart can think,
(15) all the time, when
(3) in the meanwhile,
(27) it was never meant to be.

(5) Who can say, really,
(11) what lies behind this mask…

(20) I hope you’ll know that,
(2) for all your woes,
(14) the beautiful songs of nature
(1) breathe life anew through battered frame,
(25) again and again.

(0) If only you knew how
(8) much your words mean to me.
