So… yeah. As you’ve read from the title, there won’t be any new posts for a while.
Why? Well, I’m working through a minor identity crisis. I tend to avoid putting any limits on my creative options… but lately, I’m sensing that this mindset is starting to backfire on me.
You may have already noticed this, but there isn’t much rhyme or reason behind the things I post. I just tend to write whatever I want to write. However, my productivity’s been taking a hit lately, and it feels as if I’m losing sight of the reasons I started doing this in the first place. My attempt to create an upload schedule didn’t help matters; if anything, it just added unnecessary pressure and made the issue worse. I hesitate to admit this, but my desire for open-ended freedom has become a double-edged sword.
I may not know much about audience analytics, but even I can tell that if I let this mindset go unchecked, it’ll grow to become self-destructive. Therefore, I’d like to take some time to step back, re-evaluate what I want to achieve with my writing, and tackle the root of the crisis. Currently, this is my plan of attack:
- Work towards a greater sense of consistency.
- Build some formatting to use in my future posts.
- Revise old posts and adjust them to fit the new format.
How long this hiatus will be, I don’t know just yet, but I don’t expect it to go on for longer than a month. In the meantime, I’ll still be semi-active on Twitter @TypeDeWords, if you want real-time updates on my progress.
Also on Twitter: if you’re interested in a sci-fi anime set in the farthest reaches of space with an Among Us-style plot twist, I’ve been sharing my reactions to the show Astra Lost In Space with the #anitwitwatches crew.
Last few notes: I got my second vaccine shot a few days ago. The soreness is just about gone, so I’ll be able to get out more often! Perhaps the fresh air will help me think… assuming we don’t get another heat wave as bad as the one that happened last week. With the return of some outdoor events, I’ll also be able to revive my Impressions series, so that’s pretty neat.

To you who’ve stuck around despite this site’s faults, thank you for your time and attention. I want to do better, for you and me both. Stay safe out there, eh?
Sorry; it is easy to understand that you need some time. I also wonder if it would be good for you to focus more on one genre and read a lot of what others have done with that. It might prime the pump. For example, should you decide to write poetry, you might also decide to read a lot of other poets. Anyhow, have a good rest for a while, and see where it takes you. Love from both of us. Opa.
