(Poetry) Light the Path

(0) The brain awakens / eager to remember…
(1) what everyone else knew the whole time.
(2) Every / memory is gray,
(3) save us from this wretched beast.

(4) I do not deserve
(5) respite from the artificiality of
(6) this world of hopes and dreams,
(7) never meant to be.

(8) The price never really mattered / not these days
(9) just give me something…
(10) nothing’s left to remember.
(11) Be prepared for
(12) another meal left uneaten.

(13) The clown / nose honks…
(14) they’ve made a face
(15) as the show begins
(16) in this, our hour of disgrace,
(17) he answers / with his all.

(18) My heart, it bleeds
(19) to find a place
(20) between what should and shouldn’t be.

(21) No time to spare
(22) for you have made
(23) the melody of a medley of
(24) the next big feast.

(25) For those who tempt fate,
(26) survive through the droughts,
(27) sparkle in the night…
(28) our kind must be redeemable yet.

(29) A lonely stone / wants to go home…

So let’s at least light the path forward.

30/30 Challenge II Day 30 PromptCento

This piece uses parts of every other 30/30 poem in 2026. This idea came up last year too, which you can read here, but this time I wanted to keep every line in the original order of posting. I suppose it’s not really a true cento… an anti-cento perhaps, but that’s the beauty of poetry, isn’t it? It can be as structured or as fluid as you want it to be, there’s no wrong way to express your creativity.
