Resolution 2024

Hi, it’s me, Tyler D.

Welcome to 2024!

Another year has come and gone, and this site is now 4 years old! Where do the years go? Compared to my first Resolution post back in NYE 2019 (The post in question: Resolution: 2020), it’s interesting to see how my style has evolved over time. My paragraph structure has become more relaxed, as has my vocabulary. Why did I use so many big words in that post? I dunno. Different mindset back then, I suppose.

Also, I mostly wrote reviews when I started this website. Now, it’s mostly poetry. I will say that writing poetry is a lot less time-consuming than reviews, but I still feel like something’s off. The old way of doing both reviews and poetry was too stressful, but I still don’t want to be railroaded into one style of content. I want to do more than poetry, but truth be told, there’s only so much that can be accomplished through writing alone.

That’s why I’ve decided to try and set up a Tyler DeWriter YouTube channel. It’s not quite ready yet; there’s still a few issues to address regarding the design elements, but I would like to launch it by the end of January, mid-February at the latest. That content will focus on poetry/story readings, informational presentations (like what I was doing before the shift), and the occasional video game playthrough.

My resolution this year? Well… I want to try to drop a few bad habits of mine… first and foremost: dropping projects midway through. I’m hoping the pomodoro technique will help in that regard, as it has for poetry writing (Shout-out to the game Twofold by Salty Salty Studios and Studio Élan, for introducing me to the technique). In the meantime, I have a few poems on the backburner to post in the next few days. No minimum post guidelines this year either, at least not until I’m more confident in what I’m doing.

Aside from that, I don’t think I really have much else to say. I think I’ve hit all the major talking points… so I’ll just say this: Happy New Year, and I wish you all the best!
