Hi, it’s me, Tyler D. It certainly has been a year… wait, no, I did this bit last year. Be more original, me.

So, last year, my resolution was to write 35 posts. Disregarding the update posts, I wrote… 28. 14 here, 14 on Typing DeWords. Okay, not bad. It’s not 35, but it’s more than I did in 2021, so I’ll still count that as a win.

I’m not doing that kind of resolution this year. I pledged back in September that I’d stop stressing over self-imposed deadlines. Instead, my resolution is to just get to know myself better. Namely: what do I want to achieve? I wouldn’t call myself an ambitious person, but I do want to prove to myself that these 3 years have lead up to something.

To that end, I’ve taken up art again… come to think of it, I haven’t actually posted my art here, have I? I’ve posted some fan-art on Twitter (coughcough @typedewords coughcough), but seeing how volatile it’s become under the ownership of Elon Musk, I figure I shouldn’t be too reliant on that site. So, moving forward, I’ll upload my art here from time to time, in the form of stand-alone posts.

My site tagline is, after all, “written thoughts from an aspiring artist”. Let’s live up to the second half of that phrase.

Here’s a bit of what I’ve done in recent memory:

1. “Fireworks” – Just a quick New Years thing I cobbled together in half an hour.
2. “The Boys” – The four members of Holostars TEMPUS, in the same style as the ‘Me and the Boys’ Spider-Man meme.
3. “Disassemb-Ollie” – Hololive Indonesia‘s Kureiji Ollie, but in an abstract form.
4. Technoblade Memorial – A survival Minecraft memorial build, honoring the legacy of Technoblade.

Also, yes, I fell into the vtuber rabbit hole. I’ve been down here for a while, I just never felt the need to bring it up. Now that it’s out in the open, though, I’ll make a post about it. In a week or two. Probably.

Also, I bought the personal WordPress plan. I wasn’t planning on doing that ever, but I looked this site up on mobile recently, and the sponsored content ads really annoyed me. I’m probably not alone in thinking that, so I’m just gonna bite the bullet and hopefully get rid of those cursed ads. And who knows? Maybe having a financial stake in this site will prove to be a motivating factor.

What else? Well… I’m gonna refurbish a few of the poems I like on Typing DeWords, and re-upload them here. Then, I’m probably just gonna delete the site. There’s no real point in keeping it around. With the Personal Plan tools now at my disposal, I might change things here a bit. Like the URL. Now it’s just tylerdewriter.(wordpress.)com. There’s a few other things going on behind the scenes, but I’ll keep those cards hidden for now.

I think that’s about it for the updates, so I’ll wrap up. I don’t know what 2023 is gonna look like, but I hope that it turns out well, both for you and me, and that you appreciate what you have while you still have it. Enjoy that pop/tea/drink/snack you’re gonna have, and have a good New Year!
